DULLSTROOM

According to John Hunter at Village Angler this is certainly an excellent time to be on the still waters of Dullstroom. The weather is sunny and stable, the water temperature is about 14°C, there are good hatches mid- morning as it warms up and later in the afternoon and with another 25 ml rain falling last Friday all the streams and still waters are full and looking good. At the moment he is concentrating on surface feeders with very small flies, either dry or tiny nymphs. Apart from Little Troutbeck, Millstream has fished well. Over at the TFFC Middelpunt waters  (www.tffc.co.za) there have been regular stockings with good-sized rainbows which are producing good results.

Dam 3, Middelpunt

BELFAST

Club waters were re-stocked in the last month and the Ladies competition is being held this weekend (see Events page). So far there have only been 20 paid-up entrants and it is hoped more ladies will pitch on the day

For more information phone Magda at 013-2530748.

MACHADODORP- GLENSHEE CLUB

The club waters have benefitted from  the recent rain and catches have been good. This club has both dam fishing and a section of the Leeuspruit and rears its own trout for stocking. Current chairman is Jonathan Prior. For more information contact Sarie at 013-2569349 or 079 6080734.

SABIE

The Sabie is running well and the banks have been cleared and are reasonably accessible. The club competition is planned for end July but the exact date has still to be set.

For beginners and kids one can always try the pond at Horseshoe Farm where one is virtually assured of catching a fish. For tickets for the club stretch on the river and Horseshoe contact Andrew at Big Sky at 013-7642682 and 083 9665089.
